Socotra Popping Report, October Extreme Itinerary - 1

Fishing on Socotra Island this season has been more challenging than usual due to colder weather fronts that have passed through the area this season. Despite these conditions, our team has been able to land a good number of great fish, including trophy GT in a generous amount, 25 Tuna of 20- 40 KG, 4 big barracuda, Spanish mackerel up to 35 kg, and all kinds of another minor trevally, grouper, etc.

As the week progressed and the water warmed up, we noticed that the fish became more active and we were able to catch close to our normal numbers.

The cold weather may have made things difficult at times, but it also brought with it some unique opportunities, like hooking more big fish. This could be because in general when fish are feeding in a frenzy, smaller GT is faster to take the lure...now with the lower activity, we hooked more single big ones. On top of that, we were able to catch a number of species on jigging and lighter spinning, adding even more variety to our already rich catch.

Overall, the first week of fishing on Socotra Island was very successful and we ended with 10 GT over 40 kg and 3 over 50 kg
