Sudan 6 - 20 March

During the 13 days between 6 and 20 March we had the pleasure to have on board of the motor sailing Elegante in the North itinerary our good friend Johan Person Frieberg, at his 4th visit in Sudan, and bunch of great guys and fly fisherman.

Strangely this season we didn’t find so many GT in the Northern flats, which are usually great for that, and during this trip we focused our attention on Triggerfish, having as usual many shots and hook up.

Despite that we manage to have some shots at very big GT but without result, and on the last day of week one Paul hooked a real big one from the boat that unfortunately end up in the reef. We also had shots and hook up at big Barracuda in the flats, with 4 fish hooked and all cut, and few other shots.

The highlight of the trip have been toward the end of trip the exploration of a new portion of Nubian Sea where we never been before, and for some reason we had the feeling of getting to a hell or paradise kind of place. Well, we found a paradise.

We saw many big GT and i manage to get two myself , but on top of that it’s even more amazing the amount of huge titanic Triggerfish, with a Titan Triggerfish caught on fly 9 cm bigger than the all tackle world record, a much bigger one lost, and a decent amount of fish world record size, with one of those that bite my leader.

Again, if this wasn’t enough, we found a small population of Silver Sweetlips tailing ina very specific portion of sea and we managed to hook two, one broke the line and we landed what we think is possibly the first Silver Sweetlips ever caught on fly.

The Red Sea never stops giving us surprise, and this was one of the best surprise and well kept secret of the last few years.

Stay tuned for more titanic giant Triggerfish!!

Wild Sea Expedition

We are a small crew of young explorers who have been the first fishing through a number of areas over the Red Sea (Sudan, Eritrea and Djibouti), the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean (Yemen, Somaliland) to discover places outside of the touristic route.
