Djibouti October season 2024: SECOND WEEK
The second week of our adventure in Djibouti brought with it fresh hopes and a renewed sense of purpose. With a new group of anglers onboard, we were eager to see what the Gulf of Aden would unveil this time. Much like the first week, the fishing started on a slower note, requiring patience and persistence. However, as the days progressed, the action ramped up dramatically, surpassing even the impressive results of the first week.
Jigging once again emerged as the go-to technique, particularly for targeting the larger, more elusive fish lurking in the depths.
The consistency and effectiveness of this method were undeniable, but we decided to spice things up by returning to the shore for a few dedicated sessions. The decision proved to be a game-changer. This time, the fish were more aggressive, rising to the surface and ferociously attacking the lures. The intensity of the shore fishing sessions was electrifying, and the results spoke for themselves.
Having a team of skilled and determined anglers made all the difference. Together, we managed to land an astonishing number of large Giant Trevallies (GTs) from the shore, each catch a testament to both skill and perseverance. The timing was key, and we meticulously planned our days to maximize the best conditions for both shore fishing and jigging. The payoff was immense: an unforgettable series of catches culminating in a colossal 130cm GT—a size that would be remarkable in any waters worldwide. Of course, as with any fishing adventure, there were moments of heartbreak. Several fish proved too strong, escaping during their powerful runs or shaking off hooks before we could bring them in. Some of these elusive giants may have rivaled or even surpassed the size of our record catch, adding an air of mystery and motivation for future trips.
Overall, this autumn season surpassed all expectations, highlighting the untapped potential of Djibouti as a premier fishing destination. The combination of diverse techniques, strategic planning, and the relentless passion of our anglers made it a season to remember.
As the adventure drew to a close, it was time to rest, recharge, and reflect on the incredible experiences we shared. The waters of the Gulf of Aden have left us eager for what’s next. With the promise of spring on the horizon, we’re already dreaming of the next chapter in this thrilling journey.
