Deep South Itinerary Trip ll 2023
Fourteen fabulous days, ferrying from island to island, flat to flat with a crew of hard working seaman, determined guides and six excited anglers seeking what the deep south of Sudan has to offer. This, in a cone shell, was the story of Wild Sea Expedition’s second trip navigating the Deep South islands of the Sudanese Red Sea…
Week 2 - Deep South
We started the week fishing a small island for a day since in the afternoon we would sail towards the Deep South although that morning we had enough activity landing few triggers and finding a big amount of them on this tiny atoll, although we decided to spend more time looking for another bigger species on the reef.
Los Roques - the trip of a lifetime
've been dreaming of a saltwater fly fishing trip for many many years, but for different reasons in life, I could never make it happen. Then one day things started to fall into place, and I could start planning a trip some time ahead. Especially being a friend of Nicola Vitali the planning couldn't have been any easier. Well, at least easier on paper.
First week Deep South
The first week of the season has been tough, both for weather and fish, even so we have had many opportunities and we landed a good number of fish, the windy conditions and high tide made more difficult to fish triggers, but as usual in the Deep South, we managed to catch a good number of them, including geets…
First week on the Nubian flats North Sudan
Our season 2023 started with a moderate north wind that turned into 30 knots of strong wind, and it was blowing that hard without slowing down for full three days.
Socotra popping Report, October Standard Trip
The first week was followed still followed by some Monsoon wind that was slowing down, and the excitement to hit the water was at its peak! For a few days, the guys had to fish a sheltered area with the decent result.
Socotra Popping Report, October Extreme Itinerary - 3
The last trip of this 2022 season started with big excitement because we finally had warm weather, and from the morning as we would enter the sea you could feel that the temperature went seriously up.
Socotra Popping Report, October Extreme Itinerary - 2
Our second group arrived composed of our old clients/friends, this expedition lasted for 12 days. The trip started very slow compared to normal cause the first week has been very cold, but then the temperature picked up and we started to have conditions closer to normal. That reflected in fishing as we started to see more bait fish like fusiliers and fishing action after those days would pick up significantly.
Socotra Popping Report, October Extreme Itinerary - 1
Fishing on Socotra Island this season has been more challenging than usual due to colder weather fronts that have passed through the area this season. Despite these conditions, our team has been able to land a good number of great fish, including trophy GT in a generous amount, 25 Tuna of 20- 40 KG, 4 big barracuda, Spanish mackerel up to 35 kg, and all kinds of another minor trevally, grouper, etc.
Stretching to Sudan
Adventuring beyond your known geographic comfort zone both stretches and challenges your mind. Perhaps similar to astronomers who are tandalized to reach beyond the edge of the known, stopping the stretching isn’t an option. The surprise of discovering that which was previously unimaginable is an addiction. It can also be the catalyst to continue grabbing new opportunities.
